Endoscopy Clinic Crisis

OUTRAGEOUS!!!

On Wednesday, February 27, 2008, the Southern Nevada Health District announced that approximately 40,000 patients of the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada were potentially exposed to Hepatitis C and other bloodborne pathogens, including Hepatitis B and HIV, from unsafe injection practices.

The Southern Nevada Health District is recommending that patients who underwent any procedure requiring injected anesthesia at the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada to contact their primary care physician or health care provider to be tested for Hepatitis B, C and HIV.

Starting this week, patients who received these procedures between March 2004 and January 11, 2008, will receive notification of their potential exposure to infection from the unsafe injection practices.

According to the Center for Disease Control, Hepatitis B and C are viruses that can lead to lifelong infections, and in serious cases death. Many patients with Hepatitis B and C do not develop symptoms of the disease and therefore do not even know that they have been infected. Some of the symptoms that do manifest are jaundice, fatigue and abdominal pain.

If you or a loved one have received a procedure at the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada requiring injected anesthesia, and are as OUTRAGED as we are that any health care facility would allow such unsafe and potentially deadly injection practices, please contact us to discuss your potential legal rights.
